The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on February 17th at about 2:50 pm they responded to a tractor trailer on its side in the area of State Route 96 and County Road 130.

Deputies report that when they arrived they observed a tractor-trailer tipped over in the east ditch. When the tractor trailer rolled onto its side it struck a telephone pole and broke it in half.

There were no injuries reported in the incident. The driver, identified as 43-year-old Paul Pietrzykowski of Warsaw stated that he was driving northbound on Route 96 when he pulled over to let a few cars pass.

As he did so his tires dropped off of the pavement and into the ditch. The Tractor was hauling liquid propane and due to this Route 96 was shut down for about five hours.

During this incident the Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Romulus, Ovid, Interlaken, Varick, Lodi and Fayette Fire Departments as well as South Seneca Ambulance and the New York State Police.
