Byrne Dairy going up in Canandaigua

Out with the old Rank’s building, and in with a new Byrne Dairy store. Crews earlier this week began demolishing the former 11,000-square-foot IGA grocery in making way for a new, 4,300-square-foot convenience store with gas pumps.

The Canandaigua Planning Commission on Feb. 13 approved a plan that showed a “pretty significant” revision to the sign and canopy, in order to be more sensitive to the residential neighborhood, said Rick Brown, director of development and planning for the city.

The new store, which could open as soon as June, will be open daily.
