Regulations are underway to help put the New York paid family leave program into effect, according to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. On Wednesday, Governor Cuomo announced new guidance to implement the most comprehensive paid family leave program in the nation.
New regulations will provide direction guidance to employers, insurance carriers and employees about their rights and responsibilities under the law. The Paid Family Leave Law will allow for 12 weeks of paid leave when it is fully phased-in. To be eligible employees must have been employed full-time for 26 weeks or part time for 175 days by a covered employer.
