Guardian Industries would pay a significantly lower amount of taxes under a proposed payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement that would replace the current deal set to expire in 2022.
The tradeoff would be that the company will stay in Geneva.
The plan also would result in an approximately $67 million investment in the plant by Guardian that would replace a once state-of-the-art glass furnace that needs to be replaced. The company manufactures float glass at the Geneva facility. Guardian is one of the largest manufacturers of the product, which is used in windows.
