Geneva teen charged after Exchange St. robbery Friday afternoon

On Friday around 1:27 pm the Geneva Police Department was called to the area of 424 Exchange St. for the report of a robbery in progress.

Officers say that the suspect forcibly removed property from the female victim and fled the scene. In less than eight minutes, marked units and plain clothes officers located the suspect and took him into custody.

He was hiding behind a pool at the rear of 7 Geneva St. All property from the robbery was secured as evidence.

The victim was not injured, and the suspect was identified as 17-year-old Nigel Ricky Lee Tolbert, of Geneva.

He was charged with third-degree robbery — a Class D felony. Bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 secured bond.
