TSA officials say a Wayne County man tried bringing a gun on a plane, which was scheduled to leave Syracuse-Hancock International Airport last week.
The Savannah resident who tried to go through security on March 2nd was carrying a .380 caliber handgun. It was detected in the pocket of the man’s jacket.
The gun was even loaded with six bullets in the chamber. An additional magazine with six more bullets was also in the pocket, according to the TSA officials.
It was confiscated and the man claimed he forgot he had the weapon and ammo in his pocket, according to the TSA.
Travelers that bring firearms to the checkpoint are subject to possible criminal charges, as well as civil penalties of up to $12,000.
