‘Women supporting women’ on day of activism, outreach

A crowd occupied Congressman Tom Reed’s office Wednesday afternoon, with chanting, speeches and waving signs outside and inside Reed’s district office in Geneva. Meanwhile, at Finger Lakes Community College in Hopewell, information tables drew students and staff addressing reproductive rights, the wage gap, child care/family leave and other issues affecting women.

Actions Wednesday in Ontario County and across the globe marked March 8 as International Women’s Day, hallmarked by an effort termed the International Day Without A Woman. It was the first major action by organizers of the Women’s March in January since the day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration, when millions of women poured into the streets in protest of misogyny, inequality and oppression.
