Wayne Co. Sheriff’s Office to participate in St. Patrick’s day DWI crackdown

Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts reports that they will be executing a STOP-DWI crackdown over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The effort will be linked with other law enforcement initiatives being executed around the state. The campaign targets the time around the holiday.

The effort will run from March 17th to 19th and is a locally driven program with all Wayne County law enforcement agencies participating and working together.

Research findings demonstrate that highlight-visible, publicized efforts like the “STOP-DWI St. Patrick’s Day and Weekend Campaign” further reduce DWI occurrence.

The STOP-DWI Foundation has created a new mobile app “Have a Plan,” which allows those drinking alcohol to find safe rides home no matter where they are located.
