For a period of time over the past year, when it rained outside the Millimans’ home on Pleasant Street in Canandaigua, it rained inside as well.
According to homeowner Beckie Milliman, from last August until December, the family lived under ripped and leaking tarps — mostly exposed to the elements of the brutal days of winter that were taking hold.
“Our ceiling and insulation all were destroyed and had to be removed and in January, our kitchen alone was a frigid 36 degrees,” Milliman recalled.
The family got to this point due to the deception of a contracting company they hired to do a home-improvement project. After taking nearly $44,000 from the Millimans, those contractors disappeared, leaving the home in shambles.
