Waterloo trustee calls posting on village Facebook page ‘inadvertent’

Colby O’Brien, a member of the town Republican Committee, has filed a complaint over village Trustee David Duprey’s use of the village Facebook page.

Duprey, a Democrat who is seeking another term in the March 21 village election, said it was an inadvertent mistake that he corrected as soon as it was pointed out to him.

Duprey and fellow incumbent Trustee Gina Suffredini are seeking re-election against Republicans John Butlak and Damon Monroe, and independent Brian Preston.

In a March 8 letter to Mayor Ted Young — copies also were sent to the Finger Lakes Times and the state Board of Elections’ Public Information & Enforcement Counsel — O’Brien wrote that he noticed recently the village shared a post on Facebook regarding village news.
