Newfield man found with heroin after Ithaca crash

A 23-year-old Newfield man is facing numerous traffic and drug charges after he caused an accident in Ithaca while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Police say Dylan T. Vincent, 23, of Newfield crashed his vehicle around 4:30 pm on March 4th near the 400 block of Bostwick Rd. and during the subsequent investigation — was found to be driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He was also found to be driving with a suspended license, according to police.

Vincent was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a control substance. He was also charged with failure to use designated lane, speed not reasonable, no seat belt, and unsafe tires.

The charges will be answered in Ithaca Town Court on March 22nd.

    When will they ever learn…..

    When a substance abuser (alcohol, heroin, or the like) cares so little about the law that he drives under the influence, making it illegal for him to drive (suspending his license) will NOT cause him to care enough about the law when under the influence, to stop hiim from driving. The problem is his access to alcohol, etc., not his license to drive!

    Come on, government. Don’t just DOCUMENT that you have done something about it. Actually DO something about it!
