Ontario County law enforcement academy to take citizens behind the scenes

Are you interested in the inner workings of Ontario County government?

If your answer is yes, the first-ever Ontario County Citizens Academy might be for you.

The six-week class begins April 11 and runs through May 23, with sessions going from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at the safety training facility on County Road 48 in Hopewell. No class will be held on April 18.

County Administrator Mary Krause said county officials came up with the idea of a citizens academy, in part, because one offered annually by the sheriff’s office has proven very popular. The county government class will be limited to 35 people.
