Two escape Palmyra house fire

Two people were able to escape a house fire that reportedly started around an oven in the rear of the home.

The two adults and three children who occupy the home have been forced to relocate, but all parties involved were safe after the West Jackson St. fire was put out.

Extensive damage was done to the home. The flames worked from the back of the structure to the front — gutting the interior of the home, which was a rental property for the family of five.

The fire started around 10:30 am on Friday. According to those on the scene, it took more than two hours for the structure fire to be called “under control.”
