In Clifton Springs, three vie for two trustee seats

Several of Ontario County's eight villages will be holding elections Tuesday, but Clifton Springs has the only one with a contested race.

Three people are running for two trustee seats on the Village Board of Trustees. Incumbent Trustees Daniel Blondell, who is running as a Democrat and independent, and Melissa Kumkey, who is running as an independent, are running again for four-year seats.

They are facing a challenge from Scott Janas, who is running as a Democrat. Janas, 36, who is manager of LL Bean Outdoor Discovery Stores, said he was looking for ways to be involved in the community where he grew up and the opportunity to run came at a time when he wanted to be part of a larger solution.
