Helming: NY Senate’s $8 billion drinking water plan good for Finger Lakes region

The New York State Senate’s support for $8 billion in water quality investments would benefit the Finger Lakes region, state Sen. Pam Helming said last week.

The key components of the Senate’s plan includes a $5 billion bond act to fund water infrastructure projects and support for Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to provide $2 billion over five years for water quality improvements.

Senate Republicans are also pushing for the creation of the Drinking Water Quality Institute, which would set standards for unregulated contaminants and compile a list of contaminants that must be tested by public water agencies.
