Police close criminal investigation into two bodies found in Canandaigua last summer

The Canandaigua Police Department is closing the criminal investigation into the deaths of two men whose bodies were found in the city last August.

Police Chief Stephen Hedworth announced Wednesday that the deaths of Daniel Mendez, 45, and Donald A. Dailey, 47, are unsuspicious and did not involve any criminal activity.

That determination, finalized after police investigations and information received by the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office, is final unless new information about the cases develop, Hedworth said. The bodies of both Mr. Mendez and Mr. Dailey were found within a few hours of each other within city borders on Aug. 18.
