Child porn case involving Hopewell man ends in plea deal

A Hopewell man, already serving a prison sentence for being convicted of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl, pleaded guilty to child pornography charges on Monday in Ontario County Court.

Clement Hill, 31, decided to take a plea deal, offered by the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office, moments before a trial jury was to be selected to hear his case.

Hill, in the midst of a seven-year prison term after being found guilty almost a year ago of two counts of first-degree sex abuse, a class D felony, will be sentenced to an additional five-years behind bars in June for the latest child pornography charges.

Had the case gone to trial, Hill could have received a sentence that included up to 35 years behind bars if convicted, according to Ontario County First Assistant District Attorney Jim Ritts.
