For professionals who work constantly with busy, overwhelming schedules, the choice of food usually comes down to a few fast food, casual-dining or more formal sit-down restaurants.
Now there’s a new lineup of businesses available for individuals who don’t have time to prepare dinner or lunch ahead of time. Or for those who aren’t comfortable cooking.
The name of the service is “meal kit delivery.” Customers order a series of prepackaged, prepared dishes delivered right to their address. The portions are usually enough for one meal, and instructions are provided, allowing for an easy preparation of the food.
On the national scale, vendors include Plated, Blue Apron, PeachDish, Chef’D, Purple Carrot, HelloFresh, Terra’s Kitchen and Home Chef, according to a March 2016 article by Forbes magazine. However, many of these services are based in various cities and states across the United States, from California to New York City to Atlanta, Ga., which means delivery must be factored into the cost of the meals.
