Parents and residents looking for ways to safeguard their children from victimization, violence and sexual exploitation can ask the experts for help in person.
The Safe Lives Start @ Home community forum at Canandaigua Academy on Monday night will feature a nine-person panel of experts, including representatives from local law enforcement, Canandaigua city schools, the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office, and advocacy and service providers. Each will answer questions based on their own perspectives and areas of expertise, according to First Assistant District Attorney James Ritts, the event spokesman.
“As parents, we were raised in a different world,” said Ritts. “Technology has created an amazing level of risk. Social media now permits a whole new market for predators to stalk vulnerable children.”
