Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates counties have been awarded a combined $2 million in state grant money to enhance local emergency communications systems.
The state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services administers the State Interoperable Communications Grants. This is the fifth round of funding, with the grants totaling more than $275 million to date.
There was $45 million doled out in the most recent round of funding.
The grants were announced Wednesday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office. Ontario County is getting $716,143, Seneca County $476,901, Wayne County $514,825 and Yates County $355,205.
