Search warrant leads to drug, firearm charges in Enfield

On Monday around 5:08 am members of the Ithaca Police Department SWAT Team, Ithaca Police Department Investigations Division, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police served a narcotics search warrant at 1718 Mecklenburg Rd. in Enfield.

The SWAT team secured the residence and two occupants, one being the defendant — later identified as Carl L. Williams. The residence was searched and located an amount of heroin, another unidentified narcotic, a sawed off shotgun and other items consistent with narcotics sales.

Carl L. Williams, 30, of Enfield was charged with one count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance — subdivision 1, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance — subdivision 12, and one count of criminal possession of a firearm.

All three are felony charges, according to police.

He was arraigned in Enfield Town Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond.
