The Owasco Lake Watershed Inspection Program and a construction firm out of Syracuse made another attempt Friday to clear out the Owasco Lake sluiceway at the east end of the Emerson Park pier. The clog is something that local officials have been working to unplug for years.
How did Friday's attempt go? No luck — at least not yet.
Watershed Inspector Tim Schneider said the construction firm used a hose to jet water into the culverts, loosening up the packed material. Similar to a vacuum, the sediment is sucked up by a separate hose into a bag before being removed off site.
