Marcus Whitman rolls out $32M school budget for 2017-18

Only half of this year’s Marcus Whitman Central School board hopefuls will go home happy when polls close on May 16.

Six candidates will vie for three open seats on the nine-person Board of Education. Cory Clark, Jeff Allen, Benjamin Wickham, Tricia Phillips, Anne Burnett and Phyllis Frantel will run for the three-year terms, which start July 1.

Voters also will weigh in on a proposed 2017-18 spending plan of $32,049,580. The budget is a 0.53 percent increase over last year’s $31,880,010 plan.
