Deputies in Seneca County arrested a Seneca Falls man on two drug charges after an investigation into the sale of fentanyl on April 11th.
Fentanyl is a highly addictive and dangerous synthetic opiate which is commonly sold as an alternative to heroin and has resulted in many fatal overdoses nationwide.
On April 24th at approximately 7:30 pm deputies arrested Derek M. Mehlenbacher, 24, of Seneca Falls with one count of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Both are Class B felonies, according to deputies. It is alleged that Mehlenbacher sold a quantity of fentanyl earlier in the month, which prompted an investigation. The sale allegedly took place in Waterloo.
He was arraigned in Junius Town Court.
