Excuse Peter Virkler for bragging about the water.
But what else do you do when you have the best tasting water in New York and the results to prove it? Canandaigua’s drinking water was judged the best in a blind taste test at the New York American Water Association’s annual two-day conference last month. Canandaigua, which last won the award in 2013, competed against 10 other cities.
“We’re pleased,” Virkler said. “It’s always nice to do well in the competition.”
Judges base their decision on taste, odor, color, clarity, aftertaste and how the water feels in the mouth, said Virkler, who is chief operator of the Canandaigua Water Treatment Facility on West Lake Road.
