Knapp & Schlappi Lumber, of 273 Lake Street, represented by partners Danny Knapp and Nick Olney, appeared at the Yates County Planning Board Thursday, April 27 for a Site Plan Review, for a new 6,400 sq. ft. building 500 ft. from the N.Y. State right of way on Rte. 54 in Penn Yan.
Knapp & Schlappi’s plan is to demolish the existing 5,770 sq. ft. building south of the main store to erect a new building to house a new rental center as well as the millwork shop and office space.
Knapp and Olney state the old shop has structural problems, and the new building will suit their needs for the growing retail rental market. To be built in the same style and with the same materials as the main store, the new building will extend closer to Lake St./Rte. 54, but will be farther from Mace St. than the old shop. Olney says it will also be a more aesthetically pleasing for the guests of the now completed Hampton Inn across Mace Street.
