Investigators: Newark man injured baby, left scars

Deputies in Wayne County say a Newark man was arrested after an investigation, which was initiated by Child Protective Services.

Brandon L. Morris, 23, of Newark was charged after allegedly physically injuring an 11-month-old baby while he was babysitting the child on two separate occasions.

Deputies say Morris was the live-in boyfriend of the child’s mother.

The baby was injured on his back causing bleeding and later scarring on several areas of the child’s back, according to deputies.

Morris was arraigned in Lyons Town Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 secured bond.

A stay away order of protection was also issued on behalf of the child.
