Shortly before 4:30 pm this afternoon the Waterloo Police Department issued a statement to the media.
The Waterloo Memorial Day Parade is cancelled due to severe weather in and around the Waterloo area and Finger Lakes region. The scheduled Memorial Services will still be held and will commence at 6:00 PM at the Waterloo Main Street School Auditorium.
The parade was originally scheduled to start at 6 pm followed by the Memorial Service which was to be held outdoors in Lafayette Park. Waterloo annually holds these events on the actual Memorial Day holiday, May 30th, which often times does not fall on the calendar weekend that Memorial Day is observed. Tonight’s featured speaker at the Memorial Service is Ralph Calabrese Sr., a local Korean War Veteran.
