The Arts Center of Yates County’s lakeside facility, Sunny Point will open for the season on Sunday, June 4 with a chicken barbecue fundraiser, live music, wine and beer tastings and family activities.
The property, on the east side of Keuka Lake about eight miles from Penn Yan, was given to the Arts Center a decade ago as an estate gift from University of Toronto Art History professor Dr. Annie Smith. The Arts Center uses the white cottage at Sunny Point to house visiting instructors as well as housing two resident artists each summer.
The “red barn” studio space, which includes a large lakeside screened porch, is used for summer classes and a variety of events. This summer also marks the opening of Annie’s Boathouse Pottery, a fully equipped pottery studio located a few feet from the edge of Keuka Lake.
