Former Canandaigua Fire Chief Mark Marentette is appealing his termination, which came in April after a lengthy hearing process.
According to paperwork filed in state Supreme Court, Marentette, who had served as city fire chief from March 2011 until his termination April 18, is seeking to be restored to his former position and full back pay and benefits.
Marentette was suspended without pay for 30 days in January. The salary budgeted this year for the fire chief position is $84,858.
Marentette, who has not commented previously, noted in an email Friday that seven of the 11 allegations against him were determined to be unfounded by a hearing officer, who had recommended Marentette’s demotion, but not his firing.
