The town of Canandaigua last month was awarded the 2017 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Champion Award.
The award is the highest recognition presented to the public by EPA Region 2. Award winners demonstrate an outstanding commitment to protecting and enhancing environmental quality and public health.
Over the past three years, the town has placed a high priority on natural resource protection with water quality protection at the top of the list.
Implementing community sustainability programs and additional stormwater management measures, town officials have identified protection of natural resources and Canandaigua Lake as a priority.
