Rideout murder suspects to be tried together

A Monroe County judge has ruled that all four suspects in the death of Penfield man Craig Rideout will be tried together, according to Chronicle-Express news partner WHEC in Rochester.

Last summer, Craig Rideout’s beaten, disfigured body was found wrapped in a tarp in a wooded area in the Town of Jerusalem in Yates County. Investigators said he had been strangled. Facing charges in the case are Rideout’s sons Colin and Alex, his estranged wife Laura and her boyfriend Paul “P.J.” Tucci.

In court Wednesday, June 14, Monroe County Supreme Court Judge Thomas E. Moran ruled all four suspects would face trial together. The judge also denied other requests to suppress statements Laura Rideout and Paul Tucci made to investigators.

The judge also denied individual examination of jurors from a pool of 100 who will be brought in for the selection process. Defense attorneys expressed concern over contaminating potential jurors in open examination. Prosecutor Tim Prosperi says that a larger than normal jury pool has been selected due to the high profile nature of the case.
