A Weedsport man was charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors following a traffic pursuit on Route 5 in the town of Elbridge early Saturday morning.
The Onondaga County 911 Center received a call reporting a car, driven by Joseph D. Hess, 19, of Weedsport, struck a guard rail and almost hit other vehicles on Route 5 in Camillus. State troopers caught up to the vehicle and witnessed Hess swerve into oncoming traffic, according to Elbridge State Police.
When troopers attempted to pull the vehicle over, Hess did not stop. Officers engaged in a slow-speed pursuit and continued to observe the vehicle swerve.
Hess eventually pulled over near Kester Road on Route 5 in the town of Elbridge. When he was approached by officers, he attempted to drive away on the shoulder of the road, according to Elbridge State Police. Officers were eventually able to remove Hess from the vehicle.
