Understand, Sammie Torlish didn’t always dream of softball diamonds.
She’s no stranger to the game, though. When she arrived to play with the Victor softball team and coach Shelly Collins, Torlish knew all about running the bases, snagging line drives and fielding ground balls. She knew how it felt to put the sweet spot of a bat on the ball and she was very aware of defensive alignments and how to get a double play started.
That’s because all the way up and through her freshman year of high school, Torlish was toiling on the baseball diamond, not softball.
