Newark High School collects more than 115 units of blood

Newark High School has the distinction of collecting more than 115 units of blood during the four American Red Cross blood drives held at the school during this school year.

The drives were coordinated by PLTW-BioMedical Sciences Program students in grades 9-12.

NHS BioMedical Sciences teacher Shawn Flanagan recently learned that Newark High School donated the second highest amount of blood in 2016-17 among all of the Wayne and Ontario County high schools.

“Thanks to the tremendous support from Newark High School students, faculty, and staff — in management, service, and blood donations — the American Red Cross awarded two scholarships to our school this year for $500 and $250,” Flanagan said.
