Arcadia teen accused of passing fake currency

An Arcadia teen is facing a felony charge after sheriff’s deputies allege that he tried to use a fake $100 bill marked as “cinematic money only” to pay for Gatorade and a Slim Jim.

The 17-year-old, whose name the Daily Messenger is withholding because of his age, was arrested Sunday on a charge of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree.

Wayne County sheriff’s deputies allege that the teen on June 18 tried to pass the fake bill at around 4:16 a.m. at the Lyons Kwik Fill Gas Station on Forgham Street.
