First, in May 2017 many people enjoy watching the Genesee Beer Tanks arrive through many communities on the Erie Canal from the Hudson to Rochester, NY. What an experience that will be talked about for many years. It brought community people together to enjoy not only the experience, but enjoying a fun day with friends and new friends.
June, July and September, the most genius & creative project became a reality for the Corning Museum of Glass. Who would have imagined a live glass blowing event to occur on a barge on the Erie Canal!! What an amazing idea! If you were not able to experience this event at the Fairport Canal Days in June, you must enjoy it for the Seneca Falls Canal Festival July 7-9th. In honor of the 100th year of the Women Suffrage movement and how women shaped our nation, the Corning Museum of Glass will have only women glass blowers/creators present for this event. Then for the last time in 2017, the Corning Museum of GlassBarge will be at the World Canal Conference in Syracuse from September 24-28th. You will be blown away, it is a must see for you and your family to enjoy!
July 17-22, VoteTilla, with five rented canal boats and the Corning Museum of Glass blowing barge, is a week-long navigational on the Erie Canal celebrating 100 years of the women’s suffrage and right to vote in New York State. The VoteTilla will set out from Seneca Falls, NY and travel to Rochester. If you are near the canal during this time frame, please stop by and help promote the history of the women’s suffrage, commemorate the 100th year in NYS and celebrate the educational experience. Come bring the children!!
