Construction is nearing completion on two separate but adjacent projects at 1000 County Road 8.
The first is a $1.7 million addition and upgrade to Farmington Town Hall, which began in October 2017. Work is expected to wrap up by the end of August — and most town employees have settled into their new offices, according to Town Supervisor Peter Ingalsbe. Board and committee meetings are expected to return to a new and improved board room in late July or early August, he said.
The new 4,423-square-foot addition, on the southwest side of the existing structure, bumps up the total Town Hall footprint to 13,344 square feet. Upgrades throughout include expansion of the main meeting room, installation of smart boards, a security camera, sound system and a raised dais for board members.
The new addition will be home to the town assessor, historian, code enforcement officers and an administrator, and will hold two conference rooms, additional storage space and restrooms. Across the hall will be an enlarged space for the town supervisor, administrative assistant, bookkeeper and planning director. Many of these offices are currently in the basement.
