The town of Macedon and village of Rushville have been awarded $50,000 Local Government Citizens Reorganization Empowerment grants.
The grants were announced Monday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The money is to be used to implement shared services initiatives and explore dissolution and consolidations in order to reduce local property taxes and streamline government operations.
Macedon, in Wayne County, received $50,000 to assist with implementing the dissolution of the village of Macedon. Residents voted to dissolve village government June 11, 2015. The village created and approved a dissolution plan, which was upheld by voters in March 2016, and the village dissolved on March 31 of this year. The Town Board is in the process of performing the necessary tasks associated with dissolution.
