Man airlifted to Upstate Hospital after logging accident in Lodi

Deputies in Seneca County say that around 11 am on Friday they responded to 8950 Marilyn Dr. in Lodi for a personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that Brandon M. Bostwick, 20, of Waverly, New York was operating a Ford F-350 dump truck towing a Bush Bandit wood chipper up a steep hill behind the residence on Marilyn Dr.

Bostwick was attempting to complete a logging job, according to investigators.

Anthony M. Elmore, 35, of Trumansburg, who owns the logging company attempted to pull the dump truck up the hill with an excavator, but it got stuck in the mud. While doing so, the chain became disconnected from the dump truck and it began rolling down the hill backwards, toward the lake.

Deputies say Bostwick jumped from the vehicle and was briefly pinned between the truck and wood chipper. The truck overturned and caused substantial damage, before coming to rest on it’s right side.

Bostwick complained of back and side pain, was checked over at the scene, and was airlifted to Upstate Medical via LifeNet.

The accident remains under investigation, but deputies say Bostwick was released from the hospital.
