Mets center fielder Michael Conforto already looks at home in the cleanup spot.
Conforto started in the No. 4 spot for the first time this season in Thursday night’s 10-0 victory over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. He worked a two-out walk and scored in the first inning, then hit a three-run home run off the left-field foul pole in the seventh inning to turn a four-run lead into a rout.
Conforto is expected to hit in the middle of the order the rest of the season. He started 68 games in the leadoff spot.
