Beverly Animal Shelter Pets of the Week: Pets with personality

You can find all kinds of personalities in the pets at the Beverly Animal Shelter. Some personalities are outgoing, some are rambunctious, and some demure. This week, we have 2 demure young ladies and one little fellow who still wants his Mom.

CAPPUCCINO

Estimated to be 6 months old, Cappuccino is a tiny tiger love. He loves to be held and carried around. With his dark black tiger stripes and golden eyes, Cappuccino looks like he’ll grow up to be an impressive tiger, but right now he wants to be your baby boy. Cappuccino is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, micro-chipped and tested negative for both FIV and Fe-Leuk.

YVONNE

A lovely white and black young lady with medium length fur. Thought to be less than one year old, Yvonne likes people but does not care for other cats. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, micro-chipped, and tested negative for FIV and Fe-Leuk.

NOLA

She’s a lady. That’s the best way to describe quiet Ms. Nola. A black and brown tiger with white feet and a white belly, she is estimated to be 3 years old. Nola likes to snuggle and is looking for a gentle home. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, micro-chipped, and tested negative for FIV and Fe-Leuk.

LAST WEEK’S PETS – All of last week’s lost and alone strays, canine Sandy and felines Marty Tyler and Brooke, continue to be cared for by BAS while they wait for their forever home.

SHELTER NEWS

As a service to the community, the Beverly Animal Shelter has added a crematory for animal cremation, both individual and group. Call the Shelter at (315)539-9357 for more information.

Once again, the Beverly Animal Shelter will have a subsidized Spay & Neuter program for low-income pet owners. This is made possible by a generous Grant from the ASPCA. The Beverly Animal Shelter extends an appreciative “Thank You” to the ASPCA for their consideration.

The new Integrated Veterinary Service has begun at the Beverly Animal Shelter. Although held only once or twice a month, the long wait for spay or neutering has been greatly reduced! Call the Shelter to make your appointment. They are now taking reservations.

DUE TO THE DECREASE IN GOVERNMENT INCENTIVES, THE LOCAL RECYCLERS OF ELECTRONICS HAVE CLOSED DOWN. THEREFORE, THE BEVERLY ANIMAL SHELTER IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING ELECTRONICS FOR RECYCLING.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER YOUR HELP TO THE BEVERLY ANIMAL SHELTER? BUT CAN’T BE AT THE SHELTER FOR WHATEVER REASON (HOME COMMITMENTS, ALLERGIES ETC.) WELL, THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO HELP. HOW ABOUT:

HELPING WITH OFFSITE ADOPTION EVENTS

UPDATING THE BAS WEBSITE

POSTING PETS ON PETFINDER

KEEPING THE FINGER LAKES TIMES UPDATED WITH RECENT LOST & FOUND PETS.

THESE ARE JUST A FEW PLACES EXTRA HANDS AND MINDS ARE NEEDED REGULARLY. CALL THE SHELTER AT 539-9357 IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE EVEN JUST A LITTLE BIT OF YOUR TIME.

Unfortunately, The Purina Pets for Seniors Fund has been DISCONTINUED. However, BAS is attempting to continue Senior adoptions on an individual basis through the generosity of others.

The Board of Directors of the Beverly Animal Shelter is working hard to give you all the information you need to properly take care of your pet. Please be advised that the Shelter website has changed to simply http://www.beverlyanimalshelter.com.

Why not take the opportunity to spend some playtime with your favorite canine. The Dave Pullen Memorial Dog Park at the Beverly Animal Shelter is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm. It is located on the front center grounds at the Shelter and has a double-gated entrance. It is free to the public (though the Shelter always appreciates any donations!), but we do require you to stop by the shelter staff (at the store) to show proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations. We want everyone, including your dog safe! We also ask that you please clean up after your dog. Come on out and give your pup a chance to run off lead in a safe and enclosed environment!

THANK YOU FOR THE GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE PAST YEAR!!

The Shelter is no longer accepting scrap metal to recycle. However, they continue to accept returnable bottles and cans. For more information, call the Shelter at (315)539-9357. Be sure to wash out your returnables.

SHELTER NEEDS –

Seneca Falls has had a limit of only 3 dogs allowed for decades. The Town of Tyre has also joined Interlaken, Romulus, and the Town of Waterloo in setting limits on the number of dogs one individual can own. Now, for the rest of Seneca County…

Summer is here. Kitten Season (round two) is in full swing! BAS needs your help! To help the Shelter out, please go to www.FirstGiving.com/bas.

Please keep in mind when you enter the Shelter grounds, to adhere to the 5mph speed limit. A very sweet but deaf cat that had lived at the shelter for 17 years was killed because someone sped through the drive.

Dallyn, along with the ASPCA, would like to remind all cat owners of the importance (after spay and neutering) of cat collars (safety or breakaway) with proper identification for outdoor cats. The Shelter is overwhelmed by “found” but unclaimed cats. The hope of the Shelter is to be able to reunite the lost felines with their owners. Many types of collars are available for cats. Please see Dallyn for more information.

Please, if you have lost your dog or cat, DO CALL the shelter. Do not wait for an advertisement of “found dog/cat” to appear in the newspaper.

Please be a responsible pet owner. Spay and neuter your pets to prevent more unwanted animals. ONLY YOU can prevent the overflow of kittens that begins each Spring and carries on into the Fall.

We invite you to come and meet our wonderful creatures in person. The Shelter is open from 10:00AM to 4:00PM daily EXCEPT SUNDAY and Wednesday. The store is open from 9:00 to 6:00 Monday to Friday and 9:00 to 4:00 Saturday. Questions, call (315)539-9357 or email beverlyshelter@yahoo.com.

Yes, you can still view our pets on Petfinder.com, but have you had difficulty getting more up to date information on the Beverly Animal Shelter? There is always the very informative Beverly Animal Shelter Online found at http://beverlyanimalshelter.com/ where most of your questions can easily be answered.
