Penn Yan youths learn about preserving summer flavors

The garden at Penn Yan Elementary School, like other gardens in the area this summer, is producing amazing fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs. On the last day the Wild & Healthy group met this summer, they picked fresh herbs to use in flavored vinegars with Cornell Cooperative Extension Educator Caroline Boutard-Hunt.

This fall, students will harvest the bounty and create salsas and sauces that can be used at a special spaghetti dinner planned for November.
