GAMEDAY: Syracuse to open season tonight in the Dome

The Syracuse Orange football team (0-0) begins its 128th season against Central Connecticut State (0-0) on Friday, Sept. 1 in the Carrier Dome. Kickoff is set for 7:04 p.m. with the game airing on ACC Network Extra.

The 2017 campaign marks the second season under the direction of head coach Dino Babers. The Orange return 20 players who started at least six games a year ago, bringing back almost 95 percent of its total offensive yardage, including nearly 90 percent of its ground production and 86.4 percent of its total tackles.

Junior quarterback Eric Dungey leads the offense after setting Syracuse sophomore records for passing yards (2,679) and yards of total offense (2,972) in just nine games in 2016. He already owns or shares 10 school records and has accounted for 37 career touchdowns.

Senior linebackers Zaire Franklin and Parris Bennett anchor the defense. Both are candidates for All-ACC and national honors after finishing with more than 100 tackles apiece in 2016. They are one of the 10 returning linebacking duos in the FBS to have achieved that feat. Read More
