Auburn police: Three hospitalized after driver runs through checkpoint and crashes

A man crashed his vehicle into another car in Auburn Friday night, hospitalizing himself and two passengers, one of which was child, the Auburn Police Department said.

Police said the man, whom they declined to immediately name, drove through a sobriety checkpoint set up by police near the Arterial and Fulton Street, and the man eventually hit a car at the intersection of Grant Avenue and Seymour Street.

The man, who was determined to be intoxicated, was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for serious injuries, police said. A woman and a 6-year-old child, who were in the other vehicle, were transported to Auburn Community Hospital, but police did not know the extent of their injuries.
