Elderly couple seriously injured in Seneca crash, one sent to Strong

Deputies say 64-year-old Paul Stormo, of Elma, Washington State was traveling south on County Rd. 20 in the Town of Seneca, approaching County Rd. 4 when he entered the intersection — colliding with a pickup truck.

The pickup truck was being operated by 78-year-old John C. Jones, of Geneva. Both vehicles left the roadway and entered a field, according to deputies.

Ellene Jones, 75, of Geneva had to be extricated from the pickup truck after becoming trapped within the wreckage.

She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Canandaigua Ambulance. Deputies say she’s being treated for a fractured pelvis and injuries to her cervical and lumbar vertebra.

John Jones was taken to Geneva General Hospital for treatment of a broken sternum, and according to deputies, Stormo was also treated for a similar injury and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

The road was closed for over three hours, as crews investigated the accident. Stormo was ultimately ticketed for failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign and for reckless driving.

The charges will be answered in Seneca Town Court.
