A Lyons man has been charged with DWI after an accident on State Route 31 in June.
The lengthy investigation resulted in Nicholas A. Tandle Jr., 34, of Lyons being charged with driving while intoxicated, blood-alcohol content of .18 percent or more, failure to keep right, and operating a motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device.
Investigators say Tandle crossed over the center line of the road, struck the guard rail on the north side of the road and then veered back across — striking the guard rail on the south side of the roadway.
His vehicle was totaled, according to investigators. Tandle was also transported to Newark Wayne Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained.
Tandle’s blood-alcohol content was found to be .24 percent.
He was officially charged on September 5th, and will answer those charges at a later date.
