Geneva man arrested after vehicle goes airborne in Covert crash

Deputies say a Geneva man was charged with driving while intoxicated after leaving the scene of a property damage accident, which happened on State Route 96 in the Town of Covert.

Lloyd M. Moore Jr., 25, of Geneva was charged with DWI, driving with a blood-alcohol content of .08 percent or more, driving across hazardous markings, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

The arrest stems from an investigation into a one-car accident where Moore was traveling north on State Route 96 when he left the east shoulder of the roadway — striking a sign and overturning after striking the ditch.

The vehicle went airborne, coming to rest on its roof after traveling through a metal pole barn. The vehicle suffered extensive damage and was towed from the scene.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Interlaken Fire Department and Trumansburg Ambulance. Moore was released on appearance tickets and will answer the charges in Covert Town Court.
