Red Jacket football finally gets a night under the lights

This week, Red Jacket football is set to make history, win or lose, when they take on rival Clyde-Savannah.

For the first time ever, they’re hosting a game under Friday night lights.

“I got goosebumps right now just talking about it,” said Travis Liberty, Red Jacket senior quarterback. “I didn’t think I would ever be able to play under the lights at Red Jacket.”

“We’ve always joked around saying we should take the throughway lights and put them on here,” said Jacob Keely, Red Jacket senior lineman.

Red Jacket doesn’t have lights on their field, so home games have always been played on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

For the last year, a plan has been in the works. The school rented lights this Friday to give their student athletes and community something to remember.
