Farmington man drove drunk crashing into Canandaigua property, nearly struck teen

Canandaigua Police arrested a 25-year-old Farmington man after he drove drunk, causing a property damage accident at 43 Niagara St.

Police say Joshua R. Crane, of Farmington was charged with driving while intoxicated, speed not reasonable and prudent, failure to keep right, driving on the sidewalk, reckless driving, not wearing a seatbelt, reckless criminal mischief, reckless endangerment in the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Crane is accused of operating his vehicle on September 3rd, around 12:26 am on Niagara St. while intoxicated, then causing an accident.



According to police, he was traveling down Niagara St. at a high rate of speed, when he crossed the center line, losing control of his vehicle and entering onto a sidewalk. His vehicle then crashed into 43 Niagara St., where a 16-year-old was walking on the sidewalk.

The child was uninjured, but almost struck by the vehicle, according to police.

Crane was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries, and will answer the charges at a later date.
